Every year Carers Scotland has two main national campaigns - Carers Week and Carers Rights Day.

We also campaign for better support for carers during elections and in regular joint campaigns with other organisations, including the national carer organisations

Carers Week

Next year's Carers Week will take place between 10 and 16 June 2020

Carers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the Scotland.  The campaign is brought to life by thousands of individuals and organisations who come together to organise activities and events throughout the Scotland, drawing attention to just how important caring is.

Carers Rights Day

Carers Rights Day is held annual to raise awareness of carers rights and entitlements and to encourage carers to access support.

On this day we publish information and research including our annual rights guide for carers, Looking After Someone.  Read this year's guide by clicking here.

This year's Carers Rights Day was held on 21 November 2019 and focused on the likelihood of becoming a carer.

We published new research "Will I Care?" which found that two thirds of adults in Scotland can expect to care unpaid for a loved one in their lifetime and women are taking on caring responsibilities twelve years earlier than men.  You can read the report by clicking here.

We also published our annual State of Caring in Scotland report which provides a snapshot of caring in Scotland each year.  You can download this by clicking here.
